Regent’s Park
I was in the park early as I was hoping that the forecasters prediction of a bright start would be correct. Not a chance, even though at first it looked as if it wouldn’t be to bad once the sun had risen, thick cloud moved in and that was that. My intended targets the Little Owls were present but the light was poor.
After watching them for a while I went around the park. Bird life was what was to be expected
Little Owl: the pair were around area 25.
Common Tern: 1 male over the lake.
Collared Dove: a pair in area 18, these birds have been present for over 3 months.
Reed Warbler: 3 males singing.
Common Whitethroat: a male in the Cricket Pen, area 31.
Blackcap: 7 males were singing early on but quietened down by 8.00am
Chiffchaff: 3 males.
The male looks much neater and has a nice sized worm
The female gives the juvenile some peanuts.
When ever the sun popped out the juv loved to stretch his wings and sunbathe.
